The Kenya Meteorological Department has advised Kenyans to prepare for ongoing rainfall expected to affect many regions of the country this week.
In a statement issued on Monday, June 9, the agency noted that areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the Coastal region are set to experience rainfall from Tuesday, June 10 to Saturday, June 14.
Residents of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi can expect cloudy mornings that give way to sunny intervals throughout the week. Afternoon sunshine is forecast for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, while isolated showers may occur on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons.
Nights will generally be partly cloudy, although some areas may experience light showers on Wednesday night.
In these regions, daytime temperatures are expected to reach highs of around 27 degrees Celsius, with the lowest temperatures dropping to about 6 degrees Celsius.
Counties including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and the inland areas of Tana River will experience cloudy mornings followed by sunny afternoons throughout the week. Nights in these areas are expected to remain mostly cloudy.
