Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga held a meeting with Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, expressing his backing for Somaliland’s push for international recognition.
The meeting, which appears to differ from the official stance of the Kenyan government, was disclosed in a statement released by President Abdirahman on Tuesday, June 3.
The meeting doubled as a farewell gathering for President Abdirahman, who had been hosted by Raila Odinga, and took place shortly after Somaliland inaugurated a diplomatic liaison office in Nairobi.
“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the distinguished African statesman, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, for the warm farewell dinner held in my honour and for my delegation,” Abdirahman said.
